The school’s vision and values in relation to attendance Consistent and punctual school attendance is essential to optimal progress in school and to the wellbeing of all pupils. This is the shared responsibility of all partners in education and the school takes its role very seriously in the promotion of school attendance.
The school’s high expectations around attendance We endeavour to maximise school attendance for all pupils by promoting high school attendance and rewarding effort in this regard.
How attendance will be monitored We have Aladdin Schools software in our school which very effectively enables us to track and monitor school attendance. We also have a very effective School Attendance Policy which deals with recording school absence and communicating with parents on this issue.

  •   Teachers take daily attendance and record absences accurately.
  •  Principal ensures that the school register is maintained in accordance with regulations and will make the necessary returns to Tusla.
  •  Parents work with the school to promote and maintain positive school attendance.
  • Pupils have a clear responsibility to attend school regularly and punctually.
  • Pupils with poor attendance will, insofar as is practicable, be supported in an effort to improve their attendance.
Partnership arrangements (parents, students, other schools, youth and community groups)
  • Parents receive regular communication form the school around school attendance and the school calendar.
  • Every effort is made to accommodate parents with difficulties around school times or school attendance including after-school facilities and homework clubs.
How the Statement of Strategy will be monitored o   The Principal will report to the BOM around school attendance at each meeting.

o   School attendance is monitored at each half term by the school Principal and any concerns are discussed with the relevant class teachers and communication is made with the relevant parents.

o   School attendance – full attendance, consistent attendance and improved attendance is rewarded biannually at school assemblies with certification.

Review process and date for review Reviewed annually by Staff at a staff meeting at the start of the school year. New ideas and strategies are always welcome.
